Study Finds Mismatch Between Kids & Vitamins

With the poor quality of today’s food choices and more processed foods, it is not surprising to learn that we are not getting all our nutrients from the foods we eat.  However, we do expect to get adequate levels from our vitamin pills.

As reported on www.medscape.com, US kids may not be getting some of the most needed nutrients from their vitamin pills.  “Even with the use of supplements, more than a one-third of children failed to meet calcium and vitamin D recommendations. Children 2-8 years old had nutritionally adequate diets regardless of supplement use. However, in children older than 8 years, dietary supplements added micronutrients to diets that would have otherwise been inadequate for magnesium, phosphorus, vitamins A, C, and E. Supplement use contributed to the potential for excess intakes of some nutrients. These findings may have implications for reformulating dietary supplements for children.”

In addition, all vitamins are NOT the same (See our next post ‘Are All Vitamins the Same?’).  At Health Renew MD we promote quality, professional grade supplements.  Many of our products our developed and research by doctors and are tested to assure they are absorbed and improving nutrient levels.  Visit our store for more information on ActivNutrients, Active Essentials and our favorite supplement Vitamin D3 (Liquid).
